Need TCR Refresh? Here’s a Quick Overview
The Campaign Registry (TCR) is an industry-wide initiative aimed at preventing spam, increasing transparency and improving message deliverability for texting via 10DLC phone numbers. Registering your campaign with TCR dramatically increases deliverability, provides a path to troubleshoot mistaken carrier filtering and generally results in lower per-message carrier delivery fees. In this blog post, we will discuss the critical requirements for a successful campaign registration through TCR, focusing on the latest updates and guidelines.
Political Campaigns:
Effective June 1st, 2023, political campaigns must have an Employer Identification Number (EIN) and a valid website directly associated with the candidate, political party, or organization. Well-established social media pages or Secretary of State filing pages will no longer suffice.
The website should include:
- Contact information
- Privacy Page
- An 'About Us' section
- Information on the organization
- Terms & Conditions page covering SMS campaign terms
All web forms that collect phone numbers must include a terms and conditions statement informing subscribers that by providing their phone number they are opting into receiving text messages from the campaign.
Informative Campaign Description:
Provide a clear and accurate description of your TCR texting campaign, including the type of campaign, the messaging content, the context, and the target audience. The description should contain a minimum of 40 characters and provide mobile carriers with an understanding of the content you will be sending to subscribers.
Opt-Out Language in Sample Messages:
Include opt-out language at the end of each sample message provided during registration. While not mandatory for every message, including opt-out language serves as a clear reminder to subscribers that they can unsubscribe from receiving messages. The opt-out language should provide clear instructions, such as "Reply STOP to unsubscribe."
Accurate Sample Messages:
Ensure that the sample messages align with your texting campaign description and use case. Sample messages should be at least 20 characters long, include opt-out language, and closely resemble the content you will send to subscribers. Avoid public URL shorteners.
Help Message:
Alert subscribers that they can text HELP for more assistance. Include a sample help message that will be sent in response that provides alternate contact methods. This typically should contain at least 20 characters and include the political campaign name and additional support contact information, such as a phone number or email, along with opt-out language.
Successful campaign registration through TCR requires careful attention to the latest guidelines and requirements. By providing accurate texting campaign descriptions, valid websites, opt-out language, informative sample messages, and transparent opt-in processes, you increase the chances of a smooth and quick campaign connection.
Adhering to these guidelines enhances message deliverability and helps build trust with subscribers. Stay updated with TCR's latest updates and guidelines to ensure your campaigns meet the criteria for success.
