Insider Scoop: The Latest Updates and Tools from The Campaign Registry

5 min read

In a recent webinar, “Next-Level 10DLC Management: What’s New from the Campaign Registry,” industry leaders Stefan Heller from The Campaign Registry and Farz Sokhansanj from Prompt.io shared their insights on 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code), its role for messaging campaigns, and new tools for managing your registrations.

Here are some of the key takeaways from their discussion:

The Role of TCR and the 10DLC Registration Process

Stefan emphasized the critical role of transparency in the 10DLC registration process. This transparency is not just a bureaucratic step but a foundational element for successful messaging campaigns. These rules, he noted, are designed not to create obstacles but to protect the brand's integrity.

Q: What are common misconceptions about TCR's role in the messaging ecosystem?

Stefan: "TCR does not assign telephone numbers[…]We are not in the messaging flow. It is the responsibility of other partners to check for compliance."

Q: How does TCR handle political texting, and what is its stance on partisanship?

Stefan: "We work across both sides of the aisle. TCR has no affiliation with one or the other. This neutrality ensures that people can register as quickly as possible and get their messaging up and running for whichever party they represent."

10DLC in the Political Arena

"Time is a very precious commodity. Nobody has enough of it in the political space." Stefan Heller, The Campaign Registry

The urgency in political campaigns adds another layer of complexity to the 10DLC registration process. The need for timely campaign launches cannot be overstated, especially as election days approach. The biggest advice for campaign managers is to allow ample time for the registration process to ensure smooth and successful campaigns.

We know that is easier said than done, but when it comes to registration, it’s usually the little things that end up stalling the process. Make sure to work with your CSP (Campaign Service Provider) as early as possible to get help checking off the right boxes ahead of your campaign launch.

On the Topic of Unregistered Traffic

One of the significant challenges in the messaging landscape is dealing with unregistered traffic. Different organizations have varied deadlines for accepting unregistered traffic, leading to confusion and potential issues. More organizations are making a decision not to use unregistered traffic at all because of the risks.

Q: What insider knowledge can you give regarding unregistered traffic in messaging?

Stefan: "It comes with a whole series and whole host of problems with it. It can potentially be the source of bad traffic or just those who disagree with the registration process, but we just don’t know."

Farz: "There are a lot of dates being thrown around and it can seem like a little bit of a shell game. A lot of organizations have set deadlines for when they will stop accepting unregistered traffic and I think that’s reflecting an industry focus on avoiding the risks."

New 10DLC Tools

PULSE for Managing Multiple 10DLC Registrations

Farz from Prompt.io introduced PULSE, a tool designed to provide a comprehensive overview of 10DLC activities. "So you get a 10,000-foot overview of what is happening with every instance of prompt you are running or individual clients or campaigns. And it’s directly tied into the TCR," he explained.

PULSE offers a single-page view of all registrations, their statuses, pending changes, and recommended actions, making it easier for businesses to manage their messaging campaigns efficiently.

CNP Migration Tool for Smooth Service Transitions

In response to feedback from Campaign Service Providers (CSPs) for better connectivity migration processes, The Campaign Registry introduces the CNP Migration Tool. This self-serve solution simplifies transitions for CSPs and Connectivity Network Providers (CNPs).

The CNP migration tool marks a significant step in improving business continuity and efficiency within telecommunications. It empowers CSPs and CNPs to switch partners smoothly, fostering a more agile and resilient ecosystem.
